welcome & 1st attempt @blogging

welcome to Jess Robertson Photography and my 1st official blog!  woohoo!  i thought i should start by sharing a little about me, in terms of the role of photography Jays in my life, just in case any of you were curious.  i was born and raised in the beautiful (read: smoggy, hot, season-less) southern California, where i spent most of my free time going to the movies or visiting the sets of my dad’s TV shows.  from about the age of 4, everyone could tell i was creative.  from cutting my own hair to painting the driveway, there was no doubt about it. ha!  i guess i just always thought i’d be in front of the camera, not behind one.

i clearly remember getting my first 110 film camera.  my parents had to limit how many rolls of film i was allowed to get because the cost of developing one picture after another of things like my little brother in makeup and one of my old dresses was getting to be quite ridiculous.  (i’m so sorry for doing that to you, buddy, but don’t ever make me angry cuz i still have them for blackmail!)

from there, i went from one point-and-shoot to another.  and, in 2007, i took my little 4 MP Sony Cybershot with me on a backpacking trip across Europe.

and wholesale jerseys that’s where i first remember falling in love with photography.

now, i just wish i would have had the equipment back then to capture some of those shots i still see in my mind today.

as well as i knew my point-and-shoot camera, i didn’t know a thing with about photography.  i would have looked at you like you were stupid if you started rattling off things about ISO and aperture and shutter speed.  but my husband (fiance at the time) saw something in me and gave me a beautiful gift on my birthday a couple of years ago…his old Nikon SLR camera.  it was a film camera, but it gave me the opportunity to begin getting familiar with all of those previously mentioned settings.  granted, i think Format only nghi?m one or two of the pictures i took on that first roll even came out, but we all gotta start somewhere, right?

i bought a couple of books on photography, and even received some as gifts when my family started to notice this growing passion.  and, in October of last year, i got my hands on a DSLR camera for the first time. a Canon 5D Mark II, to be exact.  i was hooked!  i’ve been practicing ever since and now i’m WOD headed to a Me Ra Koh Confidence Workshop this weekend!  i couldn’t be more excited.

can’t wait to tell you all about it…
