Our Deepest Fear

happy Wednesday everyone! i hope you are all having a wonderful week so far.  i have to admit, it’s been a little bit difficult for me to get back into the routine.  i’m still trying to catch up on emails and Facebook messages and can’t seem to actually focus on some of the business things i really need to get done.  so, i’ve decided to just make this my catch-up and get organized week!  from tax stuff for my non-profit organization to cleaning my desk…my goal is to get organized so that i can hopefully FOCUS better next week.  do any of you ever have weeks like that?  where you just can’t focus because things aren’t quite as neat as you’d like them to be.  or the laundry isn’t done.  or you need to change the sheets.  and then the dog needs to go on a walk.  and you forgot to call someone you’ve been meaning to call.  and so on and so forth…one distraction after another keeps pulling you away from what you really NEED to be doing =)  well, that’s been my week.  but i’m just going to accept and embrace it.  make the most of it and keep going!

on another note, i came across something last week that i had totally forgotten about…and wanted to share with you guys =)  i was commenting on one of my friend’s blogs on blogspot.com and when i signed in to comment, my profile came up from my old blog (“The Shorter Story”) that i used to have on there like 5 years ago!  it was so much fun to read through some of the posts again and just see how much has changed in such a short amount of time.  it reminded me that writing has always been one of my favorite ways of expressing myself and my thoughts.  i used to journal everyday for years!  i still have all of those journals in a box…scary.  anyway, i wanted to share one of the posts i came across because it had a quote that just inspired me all over again.  and i feel like more people need to hear this!  quick back story…i was living in Los Angeles at the time and had gone to a sneak preview of the film “Akeelah and the Bee.”  this quote was featured in the film, and i just thought it was so beautiful.  i had never really thought about fear this way before. yet it’s one of those things that is so true and we need to live like it’s true…

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

just read that a few times.  then post it on the mirror in your bathroom, or on your fridge, so that you can read it everyday.  keep reading it til you believe it =)
