The Rally Stache, Bed Rest, and Hypnosis

hey all!

we are in complete baby mode over here at the Robertson household 🙂  every week is a massive to-do list that consists of washing baby items, rearranging the house, cleaning out cupboards, putting things together, more laundry, more cleaning…you get the idea! not to mention trying to do all of the normal holiday tasks.  needless to say, time is flying by…we only have four weeks left!  i took this last week…and i think i’ve grown even more since then…

for those of you that don’t know, Stephen and i have decided to do a water birth at home 🙂  we could not be more excited about this!  it does make for a lot of extra planning, but it will be so worth it.  a couple of weeks ago, however, i started having regular contractions, so my midwife asked me to go on a modified bed rest.  i can’t have a home birth if i don’t make it to 37 weeks, so the countdown is on!  Stephen has been amazing at the bed rest thing, while i totally suck at it. he’s cleaning and doing laundry, dishes and cooking.  i have the best hubby!  i, on the other hand, don’t do well at sitting still…i’m extremely stubborn.  and, with my stubbornness, comes things like falling down the stairs.  yes, i totally fell down the stairs last week because i was determined to bring down a load of laundry…and Chandler thought we were competing to see who could get downstairs the fastest.  he won. anyway, in an effort to be extra supportive & motivating, Stephen is growing a rally stache until i’m full term…

we both hate it so much and can’t wait to see it gone (he looks like Chester the Molester), so we are both working hard at the bed rest and counting down the days (we literally have a tally on the white board in our room)!

in other news, i’m now into hypnosis 🙂 it’s not what you think. i don’t snap my fingers and make people fall into a deep sleep and do stupid things.  as part of my preparation for the home birth, i have been doing the Hypnobabies course. Hypnobabies is a 6-week course that teaches self-hypnosis to help you have a peaceful, natural child birth.  now, if i didn’t have friends that raved about this, i would think it was a load of crap 🙂  but i’m loving it!  i get to chill out for 30-45 minutes every day and practice things like breathing, relaxation exercises, and positive pregnancy affirmations.  not to mention the fact that i’m totally learning tools i’ll be able to use for the rest of my life.  it’s pretty cool…just saying. if you’re pregnant, or know someone who is pregnant, check it out!  it can be used for hospital or home births.

tomorrow, i’m looking forward to announcing our little guy’s name, so stay tuned!  hope you all have a wonderful week!

xoxo
