Refresh Retreat {Seabrook Cottages Seattle, WA}

i actually wrote this post last month after our Refresh Retreat, but i’m excited to share it again in this month’s blog circle! this month’s theme is “Refresh” so i thought it fit perfectly!

happy Wednesday everyone! how is your week going so far? can you believe it’s almost May? i didn’t think a year could possibly go any faster than 2012 did, and yet here we are…haha!

i just wanted to share some highlights from my recent trip to Seattle! for those of you that didn’t know, i was there with Me Ra Koh & all of the Confidence Teachers to take some time to refresh, learn & grow. we stayed in the Seabrook Cottages in Pacific Beach, WA and WOW! what a gorgeous place! i highly recommend it as a family getaway spot.

Seabrook Cottages Me Ra Koh Confidence Workshops

it was such a beautiful time with amazingly beautiful women (and the awesome Brian, too). we all cooked together, laughed together, cried together, taught photography lessons to each other, worked on goals, played games…it was a blast! i didn’t realize how badly i needed to get away & just rest and recharge. can i just encourage each of you (especially you moms!) to do this for yourselves. it’s SO important and yet in our busy busy lives we worry that if we stop to rest, all of these plates that we are constantly spinning are just going to fall to the ground. let someone else spin your plates for a while, or even let some of them fall. it’s worth it. trust me. Stephen shared something with me the other day when we were talking about my weekend. he’s reading a book, called The Art of Learning, by the famous chess champion kid portrayed in “Searching for Bobby Fischer.” there’s a chapter where the author is talking about stress and recovery and he says,

The physiologists at LGE had discovered that in virtually every discipline, one of the most telling features of a dominant performer is the routine use of recovery periods. Players who are able to relax in brief moments of inactivity are almost always the ones who end up coming through when the game is on the line.

i really, truly believe this and plan on incorporating more moments of inactivity in my daily routine! i think you should do the same 🙂

my next Confidence Workshop will be on Saturday, June 1st in the Los Angeles area! i’m SO stoked to meet my next group of women! it doesn’t matter where you are at in your journey with your camera…this is such a fun, safe environment to learn in. plus, there’s one more week to take advantage of the Mother’s Day special of 20% off!! make sure you enter “earlybird” (20% off) or “early2” (20% off + payment plan) when you check out!

now, be sure to head on over to the lovely Amy Rhodes’ post and see what her take on this month’s “Refresh” theme is: Amy Rhodes Photography
