i met jacqueline when i was about 10 years old. i love to share the story about how we met, because it still makes me laugh to this day. we lived right around the corner from each other. like, i could have probably thrown a rock from my house and hit her house…and i throw like a girl. but we didn’t meet in our neighborhood. we met in Mexico. because we’re cool like that. when we started talking and found out how close we lived to each other, we couldn’t believe we hadn’t run into each other before.
we soon began spending more time together. birthday parties. church functions. we even worked for her parents together. they gave me my first job helping out with their pony rides and shaved ice cart at local farmer’s markets and sporting events. and we would always go out to dinner afterward…usually Mexican restaurants. i loved those evenings.
we went to concerts together. we were obsessed with Hanson together. mmmbop! Jacqueline would come over to my house and we would print out tons of pictures of them off of the computer (our very first computer, i might add). my parents would get mad and ask who was wasting all of the printer ink. i naturally blamed my siblings and hid the stack of images of Taylor Hanson.
Jacqueline’s tall! like the kinda tall where people meet her and ask “do you play basketball?” and she did in school. we never went to school together, but we shared a love of basketball through high school…and even played against each other once or twice. every time Jacqueline would talk about a boy, his height was always part of the conversation… “i wonder how tall he is” or “he’s not tall enough for me” were the most common things i would hear. and i would secretly hope that someday Jacqueline would find her tall, perfect man.
so, when i got a text from her the other day telling me she was engaged, my first thought was “girl! you’re texting me to tell me this!” then, “oh my god! congratulations!” and my next thought was “i hope he’s tall!” and he is ? Cheyenne is perfect for Jacqueline in every way. i had so much fun with these two at their engagement session! i hope you enjoy some of my favorite images from the day.
