last weekend we celebrated a very special woman’s special day…my grandma’s 80th birthday! her actual birthday is this Sunday, so i wanted to wait til today to do this post 🙂
ask anyone who knows her, and they will tell you that she is one of the most positive, hard-working people they’ve ever met. she’s been through a lot of hard times in her life, and i definitely think it’s her amazing attitude that’s helped her get through it all. she’s also one of the luckiest people i know! i guess it works in her favor that one of her favorite things to do is to gamble 🙂
even though her birthday party itself wasn’t a surprise, there were definitely lots of surprises throughout the day. my Aunt Sherry found this place where you hire dealers to come to your house and set up casino games. so, we had a big poker table and a blackjack table waiting when grandma walked in the door. the look on her face was priceless…
we all had fun playing games for a few hours, then we turned in our chips for raffle tickets and won prizes…
after dinner, we had a wonderful time of just sharing memories and tributes to grandma…some of my aunts even found old letters that grandma had written over 50 years ago and shared those!
being dorks…as usual!
then, there were gifts 🙂 some of you might be surprised by this one, but my grandma is also one of the most tech savvy 80 year olds you will ever come across…
she just got an iPhone not too long ago, and wanted an iPad more than anything.
and the grandkids all put together a little book of pictures and memories of grandma over the years…
