Nature’s Mirror – Using Water as a Mirror in your Images

i am so excited to be a part of this monthly blogging project with a group of amazing photographers! me and a number of my fellow CONFIDENCE Teachers are joining forces to give you some photo inspiration every month based on a certain theme. similar to a relay, i will link to the next CONFIDENCE teacher so you can see what she has to share about this month’s theme, and she will link to the next teacher and so on! so welcome to this month’s blog circle!

this month’s theme is “water”. summer is here and for most of us that means water is everywhere, whether the kids are playing in the sprinklers, the pool, at the beach, or even those fun dancing water fountains we all love to play in! there are so many fun techniques you can mess around with when it comes to water, but one of my favorites is using water as a mirror. you can do this anywhere, too! the beach, a pool, a lake, even a puddle 🙂 here are some examples of using nature’s mirror to add some fun and depth to your images!

this first one is one of my favorites of a mother and daughter playing at the beach…i positioned them so that i had a nice clear reflection that mirrored what you you are seing almost exactly, except we see more of the mom in the reflection.

this next example is from a backyard wedding. there was very little room to move around so i had to get creative with some of my shots from the other end of the pool…

this last image is from a recent engagement session i did in Lake Arrowhead. i love how the reflection just adds a special touch to the photo!
