i can’t say that i’ve met many people on Facebook, but that’s where i met Travis Catlett. he knew a friend of mine through a friend of his =) he was really sweet and helped me out when i first launched my Facebook page by suggesting it to his friends…and i did the same for him. now i don’t really do that for a lot of people, but this guy is super talented. you see, he is an artist. he does paintings, to be exact. and did i mention he’s amazingly talented?!
well, he happened to be one of the winners of the Twitter contest i held a few months back. and not only was he one of the winners, he was actually the grand prize winner =) he wasn’t sure what he was going to use the free photo shoot for initially. he’s as much of a fan of being in front of the camera as i am! (that’s him on the right…he wouldn’t pose for any photos but said we could get candids! hehe)
anyway, he mentioned how he was going to be doing his first art exhibit in October, called “Feel: An Expression of Color & Emotion.”
he asked if i could be present to get coverage of it, and i said absolutely! not only was i excited to see his work live, but i love the opportunity to try new things. and i can definitely say that i’ve never photographed an art exhibit.
the exhibit was at the Radisson Hotel in Covina, CA. and there was a great turnout!
when i had talked to Travis prior to the show, one of things he emphasized was that he wanted photos of the guests interacting with his work. but prior to getting coverage of that, i had to get some images of the work itself…here’s a small sample!
all of the paintings on display were available to purchase through means of a silent auction. i’m so excited to say that we won one of them! here it is =)
this is one of my favorites that Stephen captured…
Travis’ niece and nephew were there and they were both adorable. his niece did not like me taking photos of her though. this just made me want to try to get a picture of her even more, of course =) challenge accepted! by the end of the night, she was talking to me. and i got this right as she was leaving…how precious is she?!
Travis, thank you so much for allowing Stephen and i to be a part of this very special evening! we are so excited to pick up our painting and look forward to your next show! yay!
xoxo

Inspiring . . . Makes me want to paint again! Great job capturing everyone’s reactions to his work 🙂
You did such a great job covering that!!! I love the photos! You were talking about Trav’s talent… well I have to say that you’re just as talented at what you do!! I would definitely recommend you for any event or other photography needs. Really awesome.
Wow, you weren’t kidding he is extremely talented. I absolutely LOVE his work. I would have liked to go to that art show. Beautiful.
You did an amazing job AGAIN Jess 😉
thank you so much, Kristi and Alisha! Christina, i will definitely let you know when the next one is =) and you should check out his Facebook page!
